Dear Reader
We look back to another successful and very dramatic year, in which ECO Platform has reached significant relevance and recognition in all stakeholder groups, especially at regulatory level.
Construction Product Regulation (CPR)
The European Commission appointed ECO Platform to the “CPR acquis subgroup on environmental sustainability of construction products”. Only a few organizations have the privilege of being directly involved. We are seen as a relevant group of experts and started to contribute with all our force.
In the coming months we are going to discuss related technical issues in our Technical Working Group (TEWOG) to develop ECO Platform’s positions and solutions as input for the CPR Acquis.
ECO Portal
Access to reliable digital EPD data is crucial to the market. The ECO Portal offers free and direct access to digital ECO EPD for LCA experts and tools. We continued our efforts to improve the feasibility and quality of the data.
In 2023 we are going to
- introduce quality checks for the digital data
- improve the data requirements
- prepare for integration of verified generic data of building elements
Generic Data
In cooperation with Building Transparency, ECO Platform participates in development of Generic Data for building elements. Funded by foundations like Breakthrough Energy and Laudes, important global datasets for early design stage decisions are going to be developed.
ECO Platform will contribute with
- developing verification guidelines for generic data
- verification of generic data
- publishing generic data via ECO Portal
- participation in the government of the generic datasets
Working Groups
Our Working Groups TEWOG, STAWOG and TOOLWOG are the motor of ECO Platform. All three Working Groups have contributed to the achievements of ECO Platform in their field.

After having served ECO Platform since the beginning, our TEWOG convenor Dr. Eva Schmincke handed over to her successor Dr. Bastian Wittstock. Like no other person, Eva contributed to the achievements of ECO Platform, ever since the beginning. We are grateful for her commitment and honor it with her lifelong honorary membership in ECO Platform.
We are proud to have found a capable successor with Bastian, whom we are wishing success and strong support for the upcoming challenges.
Outlook for 2023
With the new roles, the increased influence and relevance of ECO Platform adjustments of our vision, strategy and legal documents are necessary. We plan to use our events in Brussels and Ljubljana for intense exchange with all members.
